Meat grinder to use grinding of fish while on the water(chumming)?

What kind of grinders are fishermanusing to grind up fish to use for chumming? Or any other suggestions? Looking for a cheap solution.

I just use an old hamburger grinder i bought at a garage sale. I also just butcher up some fish and place them in a potato sack with a weight. Tether it off to a cleat.

That's much nicer than the one I have, furyman. I like the large loading tray. I didn't know they still made them. Good name product. If you buy one let me know how you like it. I need an upgrade after seeing that one.

I mounted mine to fit into a rod holder.

thanks ill let you know, what did you use top go into the rod holder that i assume mounts to your wood board??

first link will not work its an attachment to another bosch kitchen appliance. :facepalm: looked liek a good idea at first, haha.

I liked the Bosch but I can see where mounting may be a problem just by looking at the photo.

I believe the correct term would be a rod holder mount.

when I tried an old fashioned hand crank hamburger grinder it did not work. The skin would get tangled up inside.

i googled no luck you have to have a piece of something that will fit(slide) into your rod holder mount correct? what is that piece called?

I googled "rod holder mount for grill" and found some. They are commonly used for grills and downriggers to slide into your rod holder. A welder could make one to fit your needs if you don't find something you like.....Good Luck!

nice good info guys thankyou. another forum told me to look for a chum gun, at least he thought thats what its called. Said i can get it locally at a fishing store. Anyone hear dof a chum gun?

They are called a chum churn. They work Ok but can be a pain to clean up

We catch some pretty decent sized fish, usually grouper. We save and grind up the carcass. So I bought one of these last year from HF using a 25% off coupon. I have about $100 in it. Just hose it down when done. It has been great for doing the rough work a hand meat grinder was doing. Quick too!

I plan on doing this as well. I just picked up a great solid cast old one at a Flea Market. Have not tried it yet but am planning to soon.

You can probably adapt the suction cup base for a more permanent mount, if you want.
