Maybe it is time to set the idle mixture screw and idle screw properly. Usually, the idle mixture screw should be set to 1 turn out from slightly seated. The idle screw should then be set to 1000~1100 in neutral on muffs. Starting in fast idle is normal but after warming up the engine should idle properly with the control back in neutral. If it doesn't then you could either not be firing on all cylinders or you have misfiring.

So I haven't had the no spark problem show up again. Not sure what it was. I started having problems with idling rough and when I'd shift into gear some times it would shut off. Made some adjustments to the linkages to the carb as well as eccentric screw & idle screw and she's back to normal. Thanks all for the input
