Oh, c'mon. You can't be serious.<br /><br />There are opinion pieces, and there is journalism. A journalist that wants to work steadily has to have readable text.<br /><br />There is a certain responsibility of the reader to critically analyze a piece to get the salient points out of an article. That same journalist would be out of a job if he waited until all the facts in a story were absolutely known to be confirmed before he went to press.<br /><br />Woodward and Bernstein would be flipping burgers at Mickey D's if they had followed your advice.<br /><br />I think most journalists do a reasonably good job. Not perfect, mind you, but reasonably good. It's a tough business. They are not going to make everyone happy, especially those with a specific agenda on either side. So it goes. That's not why they are there. There are more than enough spin meisters on either side to perform that task.<br /><br />All the reports that I have seen on this Gretsky thing seemed to fall in line with standard journalism practices, IMO. It may or may not have made Gretsky happy. Whatever, that's not their job.
