merc 1000 ignition conversion

I have a merc 1000 with two coils and a distributor with points. Is it possible or recommended to convert the distrubutor to a point-less? or since its running ok should I let it alone?

Me personally leave it alone, I have a 1978 mercury 115hp with electronic ignition and wish I could run points again as I am having major problems. I'd love to buy 10.00 points rather than 250.00 spark boxes. Besides you can replace points out on the water and be happy again. Buz

I would 100% agree with Buzzm19.CDI very expensive and believe me it wont run any better. Big Bucks and headaches.
