1974 Merc 110 (9.8). I want to remove the shift control shaft because I need to replace a broken part. It has a nut on either end. But, there is a shift control lever (inside the cowling not the external shift control handle). This lever is used to attach to a remote control cable. It is pinned or somehow attached to the shift control shaft. I thought it was an allen screw, but I tried all my allen wrenches and none fit. Now I think it's a pin. Does anyone know if this is a pin - and how I would go about removing it? I'm assuming I would find an appropriate size punch and just "tap" it out. I did tap with a punch a little, but it didn't move right away. Before I get the larger hammer, I thought I'd ask. I guess I could soak it in PB Blaster or such, but would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Popped right out - didn't lose it and didn't break anything. I'm surprised it didn't pop out the first time I tapped it, before getting paranoid. Thanks for the help.
