Hey guys I just finished my 15ft riviera with new reinforced transom, all new gel coat.. transom is solid as a rock. I was looking at a 98 force 90 hp but is looking ruff outside and will need paint and hasnt been run in years. Then theres a motor that just showed up on craigs and is pristine and runs good. its the 1967 1100s and damn this thing is sweet, is there anything I need to know about these motors? Also I have a few questions myself?

how much does this motor weigh?
- is it in comparison with the 90hp

will this fit 20in transom?

can i find parts for this motor?

how much gas will this suck?

doesnt have trim, whats my options, how much?

i did a little research myself and really like the reviews of the tower or power. Im mechanically inclined an do most of my work. I need something really nice and turn key though for this project.. The guy is old and said this motor cranks right away. I know this is overpowered for my boat but plan to put on another boat later, dont plan to go crazy speeds with it on this boat.

EL designates it as a 25" transom as far as i know. If all else you can have the owner measure it from inside the transom clamp to the top of the cavitation plate.

Re: merc 1100s on 15 trihull

They weigh around 250.
The 1100 is around 95hp vs[ the different way they them today] 90hp.The 1100 is a smoother higher reving motor and is in a different class than the force.
Gas consumption ,3 mpg at 3/4-wot 4-5+ at cruise.
The latter models had trim pumps that go where your shocks are and will fit your engine.Ebay Craigs and Mercury dedicated sites should get you a setup for 2-300.
Parts are readily available net and word of mouth.
The wiring is prone to rot out and new wire can be spliced in or you can buy a new harness if shot. There should be a twist wire with a lead seal on it located on the side of the block, if there then the engine has not been apart. The timing should be[ if it has not already been done] retarded a couple degrees because of the crappy gas today vs 67..I have a 66 1100 that sat for 35 years in a dry part of the country, can you say mint? Anyway running it on a 66 15' 400lb tunnel with no issues. So as long as your within hp rating or have beefed up the transom with knee braces, I highly recommend it after a compression or boat ride test.
