Help,
I have a merc 115 ('77) I cannot get it to run on it's own. I can get it to run on the primer bulb so this tells me fuel pump so I replaced the diaphram and filter screen, same thing. What am I missing could there be carb issues or have i messed somthing up? It actually runs very well as long as I squeeze the bulb. Carb inlet screens are spotless, needles and seats seem to be operating properly.

Re: Merc 115 fuel issue

It is likely either a bad fuel pump, a restriction in the fuel line before the fuel pump, or an air leak in the fuel line before the fuel pump. One way to test this is to use a vacuum gauge. See the below links for some guidance.

Glenn, The two vacuum and pulse hoses that run the fuel pump are in good condition and well clamped?
