Can someone please help me with my problem. I have a 1997 15hp Merc that hasn't been run in 3 years. When I first started it there was no water coming out of the motor. I figured it was the impeller so I replaced it. While I had it apart I took the thermostat out and poured water in and made sure it came out the copper pipe by the lower unit. It did flow out very well. I installed the impeller so the fins are making a sweeping motion which is the way I thought I took it out. I then continued to check the copper water inlet pipe to make sure it wasn't plugged. It was clear. I reassembled everything and tried running the motor and still no water flow. I continued to remove the thermostat and tried running it again with the same results. Today I contacted my local Mercury dealer and asked if there was a gasket/seal set for the water pump assembly and he told me no. I find this very hard to believe being there are gaskets and seals on the unit. But anyway if someone has any suggestions please let me know. This is driving me crazy. Its seems like such a simple concept but I'm at a loss and what to do next. I really don't want to have to bring it in and have it fixed. I have replaced impellers before on different motors with no problems at all. Thanks in advance. Gary
