Merc 165 pre alpha outdrive

I know the gearing on the 165 is 1.65, what difference will a 1.98 be when cruising along?

If you use the same prop, your engine will be screaming at redline, and you'll be doing about 8mph

like a car stuck in 1st gear

....me thinks you could increase your prop pitch by 17% and things should even out.
