Newbie to the forum. great site! I have a 84 Nova II with the twin Merc 260's. More on that in a minute... Two weeks ago I went out in my brothers 77 Nova and one engine overheated. Turns out it cracked the head. Bummer! Well we got that replaced. Can you believe the center cooling passage in the head gasket was closed!! Any idea how the heck that can happen I would be very interested. maybe it was just a defective gasket but that seems unlikely. Anyway after that I decided i would like a warning buzzer on mine kinda like the outboard Evinrudes have in the controller. So I bought a kit that is a temp and oil pressure warning kit. here's my questions. Does the Merc/ small block chevy 350 have another place for a temp sender? I would like to leave the one that's in the intake now for the gage. Same question for the oil sender. I guess I might have to put a 'T' before the current sender unless one of you guys knows of another plug I could take out? Also.... is there a vacuum source on a marine Quadra jet for a vacuum switch to interrupt the oil sender so it does not buzz at each start? I can't recall seeing any vacuum lines on the engines. Just trying to get a heads up as the boat is WAY up north and I want to make sure I have all the parts needed when I get there. I don't have the option of looking at it first hand at the moment. Thanks!
