I have a Merc 350 twin 35 hp outboard SN 2153606P that is leaking gear lube from the lower unit. I found the seal just behind the prop, the rubber has become brittle and is falling apart causing the leak. How easy is it to replace the seal? Is there a second seal that should also be replaced at the same time?

Welcome to iboats. Go Pack! Badgers too!

That's a tough seal to replace without the special tool. There are a few you need to replace. There's a couple under the water pump, one on the shift shaft, and one or two for the propshaft. The water pump ones you can do with common tools. The prop and shift shafts require special tools. If the one that's leaking is old and cracked, the rest are too.
