Have a 1966 Merc 39. No water out the hole so I dropped the lower end to replace the impeller. The impeller seems to be frozen on the drive shaft. What's left of the vanes appears to be attached to a bronze bushing which I am unable to remove . Probably has a key or pin to stop slipping but I can't see it. Been soaking in Liquid Wrench, but so far, no help. Can't get a hold on it because of the pump housing. Hoping you guys might have a cure before I reach for the torch. Kinda afraid to apply much heat. Thanks from the new guy.

Ken that imp. is on a pin that rides on a flat spot on the shaft. Try to use a chisel to try move with shaft rotation to free it if that don't work use the chisel and some care and cut the hub to free it

Thanks guys. Chisel sounds more intelligent than the torch

Laddies- Your solution worked to perfection. A few smacks with a sharp chisel cracked the impeller hub and it slid right off.

Many Thanks, Ken
