I got a buddy that ran his engine last summer with out checking the oil level. One day he took it out and it started running a little funny and he throttled back and the engine shut off.
He checked the oil then discovered there was nothing on the dip stick, he had the boat winterized a few days later. We went out and got it out of storage and put her out on the water. She started just fine, I did notice while I was sitting at the dock that there was a ticking sound, but then it stopped. We took off and it was going fine. With in a few minutes it made a sound like a squeeking belt on car. I eased up on the throttle and it died.
We tried turning the key and it would try to turn over, but as soon as you would give it some gas it would die. There was some smoke coming from under the cover that goes on top of the motor. I opened the oil cap and there was smoke rolling out of that as well.
Any thoughts on what may have happened to the motor? blown? cracked?
