Merc. 402 Stator

I am trying to find a good used stator for a 40 HP Merc. Model 402, electric start, approx 1975 vintage, sn. 4279685, the stator has four wires color coded two yellow, one red, and one dark blue or black.I can be contacted on e-mail at acermak@inebraska.com Thanks Felix

That stator is available from Mercury yet. The suggested retail is around $190. The only trouble with buying a used on is you don't know what you are getting. You could be getting a stator that's close to the end of it's life. Buy it and it fails, who pays for the replacement? You do! Buy a new one from a dealer and either Mercury or Sierra or whomever you buy it from, sells it with a warranty and they pay for the replacement. When it comes to electronic components, I always recommend new over used, just for those reasons.
