Timing is fixed at 25 degrees, no adjustment available
Timing light is showing 5 degrees at idle and slight increase as rpm increases, max 12 degrees. As rpm increased loss of power, spits and coughs and quits with a puff of smoke from carb. will restart.
carb has been thoroughly cleaned, key on crankshaft verified, magnet on exterior of flywheel verified, fuel pump checked and good, fuel good.
Am at a loss, single cylinder, nothing to adjust.

I had this issue with the 3.5 version. Very very similar set up. Had the flywheel off and everything to check key wasn’t slipping etc. Turned out that these things are famous for taking oil up through the carb after being left on their side for even a little while…and on the correct side too. Yours is doing exactly what mine was too. Had to clean the carb with an ultra sonic cleaner every time. A normal strip down and clean didn’t do it. Total pain…but that’s what it was.
