I just bought an older Mercury 500 (50HP) Thunderbolt, 4 cylinder, and am having problems starting it.
Firstly, the serial # is 1868701, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how old it is?
As far as starting, I have narrowed it down to no spark (Fuel is OK). There is compression, fuel, and the starter turns over great, but I'm not sure where to start for spark - would anyone know where I could get a shop manual or breakdown of this engine?
