merc 500 remote problems

Hi there I?m the new guy so be gentle lol. Right me and my m8 have a merc 500 2 stroke 4 cylinder, the problem we have is the remote we have fitted seems to want to work backwards instead of pulling the throttle it?s pushing and the gear leaver is the same anyone know if the remote can b altered to work the right way round.

Need more info. Is it a Mercontroller? (if so, it says mercontroller or Mercury on the remote.)

Did you install it or was it on the boat when purchased? Has it ever operated correctly? Have you recently changed anything? Like cables, work on lower unit, etc.)

Not to sure what the controler is al need to have a proper look as it came with our boat. It seam to work fine when not conected to the engine tho but as am new to all this it could look fine to me an be a mile out. Al get some pics of the unit this weekend and post them to see if that helps.
