I've got the exact same rig and had it for 32 yrs, your's is all wrong the book and pic's you see here are correct, your guy telling you things are right is real real wrong and you will overheat if you don't make it right to the book.

Ok thanks guys without you all i wouldnt have even known they were wrong i havent started the boat since the pictures was taken and i dont plan on it until i get it fixed but thank you all so much for the help

Just thought of something. You might want to pull the risers and make sure the water ports haven't been cut out to make you make shift cooling system work. There should only be 1 small hole in the water passages of the plate to allow the elbow to drain.

Not to sound to dumb but where are the risers? I have no mechanical knowledge but with a little guidance i can do most anything but thanks again don

The risers are the blocks that sit on the exhaust manifolds. It's the part that "rises" up and connects to the exhaust tube that goes out of the boat. Your risers are at the back of the exhaust manifolds (known as log-style manifolds). Most modern-style manifolds are center-riser style, while the log manifolds use an aft-riser.

The main concern I would have on the 888 manifolds is if they are original, there's a good chance that both the manifolds and the risers could be original (hopefully at least the risers have been replaced). They rust out internally and can allow water into the exhaust passages and thus into the comustion chamber causing hydrolock and/or water in the oil. If you don't know when the manifolds have last been inspected/replaced, then I'd at least pull them and do an acetone test to verify they are still fit for operation.

In the picture, they are called "Exhaust Elbows" and are mounted on the manifolds. They have the red hoses going to them.

Ok thanks again guys, so i just left the dealership and i figured out why the hoses are not on there, its because they are so expensive it was about 250-300 dollars to replace the hoses. So now im wondering if i could go buy some readiator hose and make them work i couldnt believe they were that expensive but will pull the risers and check them out, but before i do.is there a sealkit or anything i need to replace after i take em off?

There is a stainless steel plate and 2 gaskets under each elbow.

You do realize you don't need all hoses. Only the two 32-6023 hoses.
They are the green hoses in my drawing.
The yellow hoses are already hooked up right I believe. (can't really see the back of the engine.)
The red just need unhooked from the front of the manifold and hooked to the thermostat housing as shown in the picture in reply #7
Everything else is fine.

Ok great thats some good news so what about the hose that collapses should i replace that one also, plus what would have made it collapse i talked to the guy at the dealer and he said he didnt know what would cause that hose to collapse

You don't need it. They don't come with coils inside as suggested earlier. They are normally pressurized. The only thing I can think of is the way the cooling system is hooked up is causing it to collapse. Once you get it hooked up right and run it, you will know for sure. Have you checked to see if there is actually a thermostat in it?
It's such a unique way to screw up the hoses, I doubt anyone knows for sure why it happens. or even care since it's not hooked up right to begin with.

No i havent checked to see if the thermostat was in there i havent worked on it since i took it out that weekend just havent had no money to spend on it right now, my goal was for the 15th of this month but then i got hurt at work and i dont have no income comin in its a little bit dissapointing but i'll get it eventually
