I have a 1967 Merc 110, 9.8hp that needs the forward and reverse gears. I have found a lower unit from a 1973 Merc, same model and HP. Can I use the gears from it to put in the '67 lower unit?

Thanks

I'm gonna vote a cautious yes. Almost everything that I looked up is the same part# in the lower unit for both, but I would wait for someone to verify that has firsthand experience...

I just swapped a 1973 lower unit onto my 1966 9.8. The only difference for me was that my shift rod was a two piece and the '73 was one piece. The only caution might be to make sure that your gears are not straight cut. If they are you'll have to change the pinion gear too.
Walt

Check for straight cut or spiral cut, and look at the clutch. Some had 2 slots and some 3.
