Own a 20002 60 hp four stroke efi. When I try to start her she keeps popping fuses. Owner manual says it the Main relay/ accessories fuse. Pulled the starter out and hooked it up direct but it works fine. Also can start it by hand and runs fine so it must be something electrical.
Any Ideas
Thanks

Check all your ground connections. Make sure they are clean and tight. Do you have an amprobe? Check the amp draw of the starter. Could also be the starter solenoid. Good luck

Re: Merc blowing fuses

disconnect hot lead between sol.& starter turn on key ,if fuse blows its the sol. if not then the problem could be in the sol. contact (too much res.)or its your starter.also i agree w/fishead24,loose connections/high current draw...
