We are about to take the plunge and get our diagnostics up to date. The problem I have is the computer price. The Dell is 256 Ram,and 20 gig hard drive. The Panasonic is 256 Ram and 40 gig hard drive.Would you buy either system or buy the software only and pay $80.00 per hour for tech support?

I wouldn't normally buy either computer,at their price as I can purchase so much more computer elsewhere,But their computer has free tech support.

How important is free tech support ?

DHP

By free tech support ,are you talking about the machine or the software on it. If the program for diagnostics hase free support if u buy their machine it might be a better way to go.

OK,OK, opinions are like noses, everybody has one so let me give mine. As you say, those sound like fairly minimal systems by todays standards. Personally, I would buy the most computer I could get for the bucks spent. The wife bought one of those similiar to the ones your contemplating. Seems pudgy to me. Slow. I don't care for it. I have never used tech support, but I'm kinda geeky if you know what I mean. LOL. Good Luck.

Dave..

Hello DHP
I work with computers as a profession, and do have good 10 years of experience. As long as your computer is critical for your daily business, tech support is necessary. If you can survive a day or to without your computer, it is not that important. Most computers have some warranty on the hardware. If the price difference is signifficant, I will suggest to go for the most computer for the bucks, and pay for support when needed (probably not very often)

-M-

Both of those systems sound pretty outdated to me at this time. I have 3 machines here and they all have 512 on the RAM and at least 80g of drive space. I place RAM and drive space at a higher premium than processor speed for most useage. It sounds like Dell and Panasonic were dumping some clams and they scooped them up.

I would THINK that some **initial** tech support would come with the software purchase???

-W
