Merc Mallory distributor advance""need specs""

Hi guys here I go again, I have a Merc 228 1985 model with a Mallory distributor. It has an adjustable advance wieghts for max advance. I have a problem with top end misfiring. I've replaced everything but the one question remains---what is the max advance and what rpm????? Anyone with this info? I would really appreciate it

No More than 32* Total Advance.........<br />(That's the Initial,+ the Advance, Combined)<br />It Should be All In by 3000rpms...........

I installed new points too, is it normal to have to file down the contact point between the points and dist. shaft? I can only get 15* dwell. Looks like I need to remove some material.<br /><br />Thanks
