Merc not firing on all plugs

!995 Mercury XRi . Running across lake and DIES. Like kill switch was thrown. Switch is good. PLugs 2,4, and 6 fire. Plugs 1,3,and 5 no fire with sparkplug checker. Any ideas for this type problem???

Could be the switchbox, or the stator... As you have 2 switchboxes, swap them.... Fault stays on those cylinders, faulty stator. Fault follows the switchbox, faulty switchbox....

carefully check the trigger and wireing.A short in these circuits will ruin a switchbox and will ruin your other good one.I'm not sure what the specs are,your going to need a manuel and volt-ohm meter

It's not a trigger, that would kill a pair of sparks, one on each pack. All 3 gone from one pack can only be the pack or the stator. Since these engines have 2 packs... Easy.. built in diagnostics for you....
