Merc. Prop re-hubbed to fit Johnson/ Evinrude?

Ran across an awesome deal on a local craigslist ad for an almost new, nearly perfect Solas HR Titan 4, 4 blade stainless prop for $35

Only problem is, I have a Johnson 115 & the prop is for a Merc.

Can this be re-hubbed to fit a Johnson? I've had props re-hubbed because they needed it, but they were originally Johnson fitted props.

As long as the diameter of the prop hub will fit inside your OMC gearcase, yes, it very likely can be re-hubbed. The pressed in rubber hubs all go into a relatively standard hole size.

Look up the prop numbers for props with separate hubs. If the prop number is the same with only a different hub, then for sure it can be done. However, remember that re-hubbing will cost around 60 bucks. If you have a shop press capable of 6000 pounds, you can do the job yourself for around 30 bucks. I re-hub props for my Force and Chrysler engines all the time. I use soapy water as a lubricant and an old bearing outer race as a tapered funnel.

I used my Mercruiser prop on my Johnny 150HP Outboard, so it can be done. You need to buy a large drill and drill out some of the splines in the brass hub. You will need to modify the thrust washer to fit the Johnny's prop shaft and work out some kind of spacer to allow the prop nut to get snug.

It might work provided your gear case and the prop's intended application gear case are the same size.
