5.0 Mercruiser 1998. Upon furter investigation of my carb I found the one on my engine, according to mercruisers cross reference page, is a 861448A1 for use in California years 2002-2004. According to same cross reference page mine should actually be a 804622R02 1988-2002. So what should I do rebuid the existing carb or get correct one that is already rebuilt. Im just wondering if maybe the Califonia carb is jetted differently. Ive done Dons WOT chacklist and the only thing i can come up with is rebuilding the carb. But I dont want to rebuilt this carb if its not going to sole my problem. Sorry for the long drawn out book, but just wondering what I should do. thanks in advance

Actually, on the list I use, it shows the 3310-861448A1 is a M2/MerCarb for a 5.0L years 1998-2002 Engine Serial numbers 0B774445-0F600999.

The rebuild kit is 804844.

hmmm interesting. My serial number on my engine is OL045673. Which is after the ones you show. Do you have a link to that list you use.

Re: Mercarb Question

Sorry, blew off the rest of the day and got suckered into leading a dive for the dive shop. Haven't figured out how to post underwater.

This may not be authorative, but it's one of the only places that identified my motor set up since mine is between a lot of different settings.
