I left my 1998 aluminum Starcraft islander with a Mercury Alpha 1 outdrive in saltwater for two weeks last summer. The zinc plates on the outdrive corroded significantly, but the one on the hull is like new. The hull also showed no damage. I'm going to leave the boat in salt water about a month this summer. I don't use shore power except for a battery charger. Should a Mercathode system be installed?
