I need to change the zincs on my boat. My boat has a Mercathode system. There are two rectangular zincs in the center of my transom that I believe are part of the mercathode system. Do they just screw into the transom or is there a special connection behind them that I need to be aware of?

Re: Mercathode replacement zincs

I normaly ask for pictures but my old computer doesnt allow much anymore.
however in this case I will risk locking it up.
if you dont get a reply from me or DonS PM me.
wont reply as a pm but I will go revisit this post.
what the mercathode system is a reverse impression current.
the mercathode sensors detect how many millivolts and the polarity and impresses a reverse current of the same magnitude.
so the only way we have to tell if your looking at the thru hull mercrusier sensors or an actual anode is with a picture.
man I hate pics.
but on this one we gotta have it

Re: Mercathode replacement zincs

Here is a picture. They are actually not opposite the mercathode system as I originally thought. My system is located higher up on the inside of the transom. I am referring the the anodes on the transom between the outdrives. It looksm square but they are two rectangular zincs one above the other.
