Re: Mercruiser 140 help??
ya need to pump the throttle 2 or three times. 1st time down all the way to close the choke.....then a little throttle with crankin......if it's been sittin a while, maybe even another pump or two. as fer the tune up. ya need to get a service manual. to get ya started though
compression- 140psi
point gap- .022"
point dwell- 31*-34*
spark plug- ac cr44n or ac c44n which is interchangeable w/ cr44n. note, engine w/ distributor no. 1112467 are timed at 6* btdc. engines w/ dist. # c9jf-12127-b or c9jf-12127-a, 12* btdc; w/ distributor # d1jf-12127-ja or d1jf-12127-ka, 10*btdc.
sparkplug gap- .035"
timing at idle rpm- 6*btdc
max rpm @ wot- 4200-4600
idle rpm- 500-600
fuel required- 93 research octane minimum- do not use lead-free fuels
fuel pump- pressure3-5 psi
sounds like ya need a new prop too. if it's wore down, it's outa balance........
