Do any of you know the length of the shift cable for a 1973 Aristocraft 19? I see them here on Iboat for less than $30 but don't know what length without pulling it out.
Which cable are you referring to? there are two shift cables. Do you need the cable from the helm contol to the engine, or from the engine to the outdrive?
Those depend on length. you need to either read the length off the old cable or measure it. They come in assorted length, no one here can tell you what it is unless they have exactly the same boat, engine and drive setup.
that sounds like a question AristoCraft might be able to answer (since they're still around). short of removing it to find out. let us know how much fun you have R&Ring that cable. mine passes through a tube under the gunnel and then bends inward and exits in the bilge area. it's the only way of getting between the bilge and up front in the boat that i can see... cables, wires, anything.
I had hoped someone might have a 19 with 165 and have replaced their cable. It should be the same as mine I think. After I replace mine I will remember the length. If they say the length where is it on the old cable?
Got the impeller changed and works great, now need to get the cable changed. got it off on the stern, but having trouble getting the shift lever off to take the cable off. We removed the allen screw and it still won't come off. Any suggestions?
Put in the 14' and found I could have used an even shorter one like a 13' because I have 2 loops (1/2). shifts easy now with new lower and control cable. Adjusting was tedious following the manual but I got it shifting like it should with neutral safety working. Wish an easier to understand guide for adjusting the lower and control shift cable was available for dummies like me.
