I am working on a new project. I am rebuilding another Chevy straight six 250 for a project boat. We discovered that the engine we had for it had a crack internally and was unusable. After having no luck finding a good engine with the necessary front mounting boss, (like pictured here), we ended up getting an engine without the mounting boss.

Here's what I ended up doing for the modification. I took some aluminum plate, cut it to fit, JB Welded it to the block with some hardened bolts - even ended up adding a couple 5/16" bolts that I was able to drill and tap into the area between the 1/4" existing bolts. Here's a few pics. I think it should work great! Wanted to share it as others have faced similar situation.

Thats very cool Fishermark.
A piece of flat bar and a welder would of came in handy.
I bet your set up will hold up fine, the I6 is a very smooth engine.
