I just replaced my Gimbal Bearing and when I checked the alignment I was only getting marks on the very top of the tool ... No big deal right I'll drop the front of engine down when i attempeted to do this I noticed that the front mount was already as low as it will go so i started checking the rear mounts took the bolts out and took some pictures can you guys take a look and tell me if you think the rear mounts dropped or if you think the springs are to compressed

Thanks Mark

Those 'springs' are meant to fully compress. I can see what looks like one rear mount standing a little higher than the other, or is it an optical illusion?

Yes I was thinking the same thing but I really couldn't tell. I only took one spring out and looking at that it doesn't look like it will compress any more than a piece of paper so I'm not sure if my problem is the spring or it's in the mount but I can tell you for sure that the rear bellhousing what setting on the fiber washer

So I guess I need to order pn 8M0103028 which is the rear mount kit. Now looking at the picture of parts
shows a spacer does this spacer get installed on top of the mount before it gets pressed in to the bell housing. also does anyone have any literature on installing the new mounts

My instructions indicate 865329A02 with the white dot were for Alpha's and Bravos while the 865330A02 with the yellow dot were for Bravo's only.
The mounts are different, that's all I know. I ordered part 8M0103028.

Ok please i need help!! I installed the rear mounts ( the new style ) and i still have to force the alignment tool in and it does not go all the way the tool is showing that the front still needs to come down but its down as far as it will go. the rear mounts where installed with the ruff ends down I put the spacers in the bore then I pressed in the mount. installed the fiber washer and metal washer between the transom and the bell housing ears. then installed the the spacer on the of the mount then the metal washer on top of that ..... Where do i go from here

Have you rotated the motor in 90 degree increments to see if that changes anything?

Yes I have rotated the engine.... before I tightened the rear mounts down and the engine was just setting on the mounts the alignment tool went on easy I belive if i put another set of washers in the rear it would take care of the issue but not sure if that is acceptable.

Am I missing something. If you have full contact on the top of the tool, wouldnt you want to raise the front of the motor?
