Mercruiser 3.0 shift cable adjustment is kicking my butt

Could you do me a favor? Please replace the gasket. Do not use them over, and throw away the red rtv. Thanks. Lol

Got it cleaned out and all advice has been taken. Thanks for taking the time with this thread. A lot has been learned from this site. On the plus side my gimble bearing bellow was dry and bearing looked good.

Update. Cleaned the mud out. Installed new shift arm, new gasket and new bushing to the beefier one Chris recommended. Also reinstalled the exhaust bellows since the drive was off. We are back to shifting forward and reverse again. Only thing is I went to my box of stuff and reused the old short cable adjustment barrel. The one that is pinned stationary and you can’t spin.
