Re: Mercruiser 3 lt seized?

Im looking to order parts and the metal plate on the engine says --"D710908".

When I try to look for that number say under "solenoids" nothing comes close. What did I miss?

This boat is a 92 and the PO mentioned something about replaceing the plugs, points, cap and rotor. I dont see points. I see something that looks close to the old style HEI 2 blade black thing under the dist cap. Is it electronic from the factory or did someone switch it?

You have electronic ignition from the factory. There are no points.

Just got access to Seloc online. Holy crap! I cant recommend it enough. It has more info than the manuals I have for my cars.

Just as a note, the manual for your engine and drive can be downloaded from under the Adults Only sticky thread.

Re: Mercruiser 3 lt seized?

I would now check that the engine turns freely, most likely with a spanner on the crankshaft with the spark plugs out, and then I might try running it with a hose connected to the water inlet.

Got the engine to turn over a few times with the starter ( clamped off fuel line, plugs out -- so no way to start) and I would like to try to start it.

With no sterndrive attached -- the water inlet is located on the port side of the ...... mating surface between the sterndrive and gimbal? Jam the hose in the inlet --turn on the water---wait for the water to come back out ( just under the pivot pint?) and then start the engine?
