I just bought a 2006 boat with a 350 Mercruiser and a Alpha 1 outdrive. The engine has 38 hours on it and runs great at normal crusing speed. The problem I have is when I cruise at idel speeds. The alarm will sound and the engine quits. I can resart the engine and it will run normal for a minuite or two and then the same thing happens again. It only happens at low idel speeds. All the guages are normal with no overheating or any other abnornal inducations. All fluid levels are full or in the normal range. I just had the boat in for a preseasion check-up and they found nothing wrong. Any one have any ideas?

Does the engine die immediatly when the alarm sounds? Or does it take 10 to 20 seconds to stop running.

Hi Don
It dies immediatly when the alarm sounds. The alarm beeps and the engine stops, just like you shut off the key. When you turn the key the engine starts, just like nothing was wrong. Like I said before, this does not happen at any other time except at a slow idle. I just had the motor serviced and a new impeller installed.
