Hey my existing boat engine has an electric fuel pump someone put on it that it didnt originally have. Does it make sense to use mechanical one if thats what cane with the replacement engine or use the electric one i have with replacement engine?

No i got it i was just curious why you like electric. I have to make a choice. Youre saying either will work and the boat will start up the same way from a users perspective. What about electric do you prefer?

Mechanical pumps when the diaphragm starts to fail it can leak fuel into the motor and dilute the oil. Might not know it right away, and if all is good there will be fuel seen coming up the clear tube to the carb before leaking into the motor.

Electric pump starts failing there is no leak, it just doesn't supply the correct amount of pressure
