Mercruiser 470 thermostat compatibility

Hello all,
anyone know if the 470 thermostats are interchangeable? My engine (mcm 470) takes a 76270.

I have a new thermostat 99155 it is the newer type, has the spring. I had bought because I thought my engine had a different manifold assembly. THey appear very similar. Both 160 degree.

Hi Terry,
i have different engine package. Mine has the shorter elbow more to the rear. Different exhaust manifold. I’ll try and send picture from merc manual. My engine serial number is 6123990.
it calls out the other thermostat, but wondering if the one you just showed superceeds it or is basically same thing?

Yeah, looks like a different thermostat https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/30926/1592/60 just do a search for “76270t thermostat” lot s of them out there, and pretty inexpensive.

I called local shop and asked for thermostat with my engine serial number. They suggested the one you stated Terry, the 76270. So it must have replaced the other.
