Mercruiser Parts Shortage?

A little background; I am doing some major surgery on my 1977 SeaRay. I removed the old Mercruiser 898 engine and put in a 2005 Mercruiser 5.0 MPI engine and a Alpha 1 Gen 2 drive.

I have been replacing some parts on the 5.0 engine and I have been able to find most parts easily with decent shipping (2 to 7 days). But once I got to a couple parts, it seems to be a different story. Engine/part info is below. Anywhere I look, the OEM flame arrestor number seems to be on back-order. The PartsVu website had the lowest price but it will not be available to ship out until sometime next month. Same thing for the Stud for the gimbal housing. They will not be shipped out for 3+ weeks. Are these just parts that don't get replaced often enough for the manufacturer to make more of?

I am going to start looking for a local boat yard that might have mercruiser engines laying around. But it was just a big eye opener when I came across this issue.

Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Mercruiser 5.0 MPI : 0M601683
Alpha 1 Gen 2 : Gimbal 0F571197 , Drive 0F498834
Part numbers:
flame arrestor - 863416T
stud - 16-56296

Thanks,
Alex

Worst comes to worst the stud could be made. The part is still used on new transom assemblies but might need for production. Local machine shop should be able to make

The arrestor, unless your restoring and need for authentic then get an after market or any that will fit.

@alldodge thank you for the reply. I am hoping to find a stud nearby. I only need one so the project isn't going to be held back by this. Thanks for the suggestion. I may have to look into a local machine shop. The arrestor might be a tricky one to get after market. This one is attached with three studs to the throttle body. I may just take the old one to an autoparts store and see what they suggest.

@Scott Danforth thanks for the reference. I will definitely keep that for the records. I looked for a possible match and I think I found one. Unfortunately, the delivery will take weeks as well. I will have to look more locally and hope to get lucky.

I ended up finding a stud from someone on ebay that matched what I needed. It is installed and ready to go.

Also, I ended up getting that flame arrestor from PartsVu in case I didn't find a better option. Turns out the just shipped out today and hopefully will arrive within a week. Looks like the really leave a big buffer in the estimated dates just in case.

Worst thing is shipping at Amazon. They list it will arrive in lets say 3 days. After selecting to buy, that date moves to 2 weeks. I try hard to not buy from Amazon

Google is paid off IMO
Use to be able to find many vendors having the part your looking for, now it only a few. Have to go thru 30 pages to get thru the places you once could on page 1, and 2 at most. Don't have prime account and never will
