Hi, was removing my powersteering lines from the rack and one of my hose fittings was corroded and snapped off. When something like this happens on a car I'll usually go into a fittings place and they'll press fit a new head onto my existing hose for like $25. I've been to all the places around town and none have the same style of head that is on this motor. A new PS hose is $200 here and would like to know if anyone has had any luck getting a new head pressed on somewhere? I'd rather just replace that fitting instead of replacing a good hose for $200. It's on an 2002 Mercrusier 5.0

Ayuh,.... The fittin's are standard automotive brake line fittin's,... Inverted flares,....

When presented with that issue for other reasons, I brazed a piece of brake line to mine, 'n made it work,....

That was in, I think '99, 'n nearly 2,000 hours of run time ago,....

Find a better hose builder. They should be able to flare up a fitting, bend it as needed. Slide on the original threaded end, and swage it to your line.

Okay. Is it possible to bypass the power steering for the time being? I want to use the boat this weekend. Can I just Plug the steering rack and the PS Res with brass plugs? Or would that damage something?

If your unable to remove the belt off the pump, you can connect the output hose to the return line. Do not run the pump dry it will damage it
