i have a 1988 chris craft with a 4.3 mercrcrusier alfa one outdrive. i just got the boat off craiglist.
the propshaft seal was leaking so i took the porp off the bearing housing? and one of the gears came with it. not to familiar with boats. but the gears look great bearing look great ordered the seals just waiting for them to come in anthing i should be concerned about befor i put it back together? water pump has been replaced. the prop shaft on the end towards the prop has lots of play left to right but not so much up and down. at all.. is this normal? about 3" but i tried to move it towards the back and no play so i was assuming that it was ok correct me if i am wrong thanks here are some pictures thanks for any help you can give me.
Also the engine was frozen i think i got lucky with this tho. pored some AFT mixed half with acitone and after 30 min it was free so i filled each cylinder with PB Blaster where it sits now since saturday. the cylenders had good compression. anything i should do with the engine befor i fire her up and see if she smokes or how bad?
dont worry i only paid 300 for it i think i still did good.
