Mercruiser running issues

I have a 1988 Searay with a4.3. Two years ago I lost the lower impeller and had it replaced, it ran great next two times out , ever since then I can get it to run on the muffs and seams great put it in the water and get about 10 minutes of runtime out of it then motor gets real sluggish and has now power and barely runs then dies. Replace the distributor cap and rotor and still have the same issue. Wondering if a coil is saturating or or bad ICM any help would be appreciated!!! I am ready to sink the thing lol.

Start with the basics. Compression test, check timing. New spark plugs..

Is the fuel tank properly vented? Loosen the cap and see if it helps.

Did and yes it was, just took a swing at it and replaced the coil and coil wire and fired first shot , left it on the muffs for an hour no overheating issues and great throttle response. Going to call the neighbor and see if I can go throw it on is small lake before I head up to the big one.
