Need some guidance as I am stumped with my mercruiser 5.0 (2001). The past 2 times out on the lake the engine starts fine at launch but after 1-2 stops on the lake the engine does not want to start/ stay running. It will typically start but real rough idle and die. Thinking the issue the first time was water/ gas separator even though it looked fine, I replaced it. The crazy part is typically about 30 minutes after the engine would not start and we are getting towed in the engine starts right up. Any thoughts on what could be happening? Is this a distributor cap issue? Please help
