Mercruiser Thunderbolt replacement module?

So, as I am looking on eBay for a "spare" Thunderbolt module for my 1986 260hp (350) Mercuruiser, I started to think that maybe a new one is available? I was thinking of a spare, only because my boat is old, with over 800 hrs on it, and I never had any issue with the ignition system. But when I looked at the prices of pre-owned ( used like mine), I started to think maybe there is another option? Is there something new that can be purchased to replace the old part? What about the harness? One of my boating friends says that the new ones will work and somebody actually makes a harness. Is it a waste of time to be looking for a "spare"? Or should I wait until there really is a issue.........
Thanks

Thunderbolt IV modules are no longer available new. They are superceded by a Thunderbolt V module. Personally, I would leave it until it fails, if it fails. The TB-IV is a strong system....
