Mercruiser trim pump sounds higher pitch than usual

1988 Mercruisers with alpha drives.!st try upon commissioning got a click or 2 then operated normally without anymore clicking and up and down worked ok but maybe a little slower.My concern is a slightly higher pitch upon up trimming.Gonna check trim fluid level.Felt around fittings with brown paper towel and no leaks. ???? Charlie

Could be water in the oil. Check the oil for frothing

If it is frothy, you may have a cylinder seal leak
