Mercruiser water seperator

Should you fill the seperator with clean fuel when you put it back in or will it fill itself fast enough to not stall engine? 1998 5.0 with electric fuel pump

If you do not fill the filter the pump may run dry and be damaged

It has more to do with the engine than it does the brand of boat.

I always fill my fuel and oil filter when changing.
Frog, you scare me with that avatar.

Coors I did fill it and the engine never died on me so I will continue to fill it. Thanks for all replies

OOOPS, I didn't prime mine when I installed the fuel/water separator, never had one til now,and followed all your advice to install one, I just thought the electric fuel pump would fill it way before it made it to the carb.:redface:>>Pat
