After re installing the wiring harness on my 4.3L mercruiser I have 2 wires left over that don't seem to be on the wiring diagram I have. They come from 2 different spots on the harness but they are both tan with a blue stripe. Could they be for some type of alarm? (1994 Model)

Re: Mercruiser Wiring

Those are for the alarm circuit and can be used for low oil pressure, over heat or low drive oil.

Re: Mercruiser Wiring

Since I only have a standard oil pressure and water temp sender on this motor, should I just tape these off. I am guessing there are senders that work like my oil pressure switch (for my electric fuel pump) that would be required to use this function. Would the alarm sound if they were grounded or were given volts?

Yes just tape them off. You could also add an oil pressure switch and a temp switch, get a 12 V buzzer from Radio Shack and make a working alarm.
