Mercruiser Y Exhaust Pipe Issues

I was at Lake Cumberland for the Raft Up World Record this weekend and noticed some pretty frequent bildge activity. I know there was small crack in the Y Pipe but this weekend it got much worse. Taking the advice of several people on this forum, I immediately pulled the boat (Lucky, My friend has one down there so I borrowed his).

Anyway - The part number for the pipe for a Merc 4.3LX Gen II Alpha One is 807130A4. That number comes from Mercrury Express' Web Cite. The part retails for over 600.

I found marinas, however, advertising used pipes with a part #815786-C. I can't find that number on Merc's Web Cite. I have found that part number related for the Exhaust shutters that then say they fit a 4.3 LX Gen II Pipe with the correct numbers.

Does anyone know what the proper number might be or have any advice to offer on this?

I can't offer advice on part numbers, but will suggest that you pull the Y pipe, take it to a weld shop, ask them to V out the crack, weld it. Aluminum is very weld friendly next to cast iron.

Anybody who TIG welds aluminum should be able to fix this without any problems.

I was wondering if you could share the year and model of your boat....I had the exact same problem with my boat in July. 1995 welcraft eclipse with the same motor as you!
