Good day everyone,

its good to be here in this trusted forum

i hit somthing in the water probally a rock and i shut engine down. when i restart engine i was unable to shift anymore and had to b towed in. when i land boat i notice a small peice of propellor was chipped off. it now spinns freely left and right engine still runs perfect. any idea what may be wrong? thanks.

Ayuh,... drop the lower unit, My Guess is the vertical shaft is sheared off at the top...

If it's the older style leg with an 'O' ring groove on the lower drive shaft, it'll be sheared off at that 'O' ring groove. Sounds like a job for your insurance company to deal with.

I'm with Bond-o on that, especially if it isn't pumping cooling water now.
