Hey! I just bought an old Larson speed boat with a 100hp merc on it. The guy I bought it from says he got it at an auction in Nebraska. He brought it up to high country Colorado (8000 feet), and it won't run above high idle. He took it to a few boat repair shops and nobody would touch it with a ten foot pole. I gave him $450.00 for it. It runs just like he said. I pulled the jets out of the carbs and they're all 71's. The plugs all seem to be running rich except for the bottom one wich looks perfect. I want to throw in some 67's or 68's. I cannot find them though.

The merc serial # is 1517009. It's an in-line 6 with 3 carbs. Merc says they don't make parts for this engine anymore. What now? Thanks in advance:)

P.S. I've tried a few differen't props and have determined that I have a jet issue.

Hi fatality,

I have checked and the 0.069 is the standard jet. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, it's unavailable. I'd buy 3x 0.067 jets and drill them out to 0.069. The part number for the 0.067 jet is 1399-1467. I looked at www.mercruiserparts.com and they list them.

Good luck,

Chris..........
