im the same way i got a 1150 115 hp dont know where the serial no or model no is just bought the boat dont know where to look the boat is a 1978 procraft 1640 i am thinking the motor is about that old a mercury 1150 115 hp need the waterpump rebuilt

Do a compression test_ Waterpump impeller on the inline 6 was the same from like 1964 to the last years of production.

If the serial number plate is gone from the swivel bracket and the powerhead is still original, then the serial number is stamped into the top of the block, exhaust side.

As for the water pump, just drop the gearbox off and then follow my video on Alpha One water pump replacement. It exactly the same for the Merc outboards.
