This past spring I rebuilt my 2 barrel Rochester carb on my 75 165hp inline 6. Everything seemed good so I rebuilt it. The last time I went to the lake I started having running isues. I removed the carb and that is the first issue I had. The metal line going from the exhaust manifold to the choke on the carb is broken in two about an inch from the manifold. I tore the carb apart and the aluminum has began to flake off and plug the jets. I have now installed a reman Sierra rochester 2 barrel and it was hte exact replacement. Same numbers and everything. Here is my main question: Is there any way to change the carb to electric choke? My guess is the metal tub heats up and the heat follows it inside the cab and is what turns the choke off. Metal tube is totally screwed and I really do not want to replace the manifold. Anybody have any ideas?

Yes - you can buy an electric choke element and convert it fairly easily.

Here's one I did for my dad's boat with the same engine you have:

I bought it and it is the right one but I can not get it to work. I installed it and hooked it up to a switched 12v. Choke will not turn off. Am I doing something wrong? I tried it with and without tension on the spring and either way it did not work. HELP!!

Choke will not turn off.

When you say it doesn't turn off, what do you mean? When cold, the choke plate should be closed. As the electric element heats up it should open the choke plate. It should "stay on" the whole time the engine is running.

Really? For $21! Please tell me where! I'm looking at the $100 range.

Update: Nevermind. Two days of searching and I just found one on ebay for $27. I guess you have to have the search terms that are the same as how the seller lists.
